There are thousands of Sierra Club volunteers across the country. Whether you have a few minutes a week or want to make a larger time commitment, there are many ways you can help. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about a topic that interests you, share your skills in a different way, meet people who share your values, participate in your community, and -- best of all -- have fun! All Sierra Club meetings and events are open to the public, and we encourage new faces. To get involved, attend one of the activities we have listed or call Becky Stanley at 206-378-0114 x 301. She or another volunteer will call you back to talk more about your interests and how you can get involved. Or, fill out our simple on-line Volunteer Form, and we will get in touch with you. Read more below about other ways to help out -- write letters, make phonecalls, and talk with your friends, family and neighbors. While it's always nice to meet people, you can also help without leaving your computer! * Download Cool State Materials Read more about the hottest issues, print materials to distribute to your friends and family, or find resources for your next Sierra Club event. If your letter is printed, you reach lots of readers as well as public officials. To get the most recent topics and alerts, sign up for the Cool State Action Network email list. Find tips for writing a great "LTE" here! * Contact your Public Officials It's always helpful for our public officials to know what you're thinking. Letters and calls from constituents are held in high regard. Throughout the campaign, we will let you know key times when we are working to get many calls in at one time. But, you can always write to them with your opinion. To find your public officials, search these directories: Congress.org - for federal and state-level officials US Congress of Mayors - to find your mayor
* Attend a Sierra Club event The Cool State campaign features many ways to meet people, have fun and help support clean energy solutions! All our events are open to the public, and many of them are free. Our Event Calendar features everything that might interest you: Issue Committee meetings, Sierra Club and Beer events, movie viewing nights, Cool State Forums, and many other events! Feel free to attend an event, and * Host a House Party or Movie Night A great way to educate people about the issue of change and the Cool State campaign is to invite your friends, family, book club members, neighbors -- whomever! -- to your house to talk about your concerns. Having a few folks over with snacks and some drinks creates a relaxed, fun atmosphere to dig into these issues, and see if there are ways people want to work together to help. We can provide lots of help! If you are interested in hosting an event, sign up as a volunteer and note "I would like to host an event!".
